FLOATING IN SPACE
This series uses mirror-imaging to create works that subvert our intuitive notions of what a building is, both due to the inherent conflict with perspective and Newtonian physics and also because of the partial abstraction that takes place as a result of the severing from gravity. At the same time, the large-scale (and often beautiful) banalities of the original buildings, many of which are East German, are transformed into structures that would be at home in a sci-fi landscape, counter-pointing two very different variations of a futurist utopia.
